U.S. Army Deserter ordered deported
14.08.2008 at 10:48:42

Quote:
CBC: The Canada Border Services Agency ordered Jeremy Hinzman, his wife, son and baby daughter born three weeks ago to leave by Sept. 23.

If the baby daughter was born 3 weeks ago, wouldn't that make her a Canadian citizen, and they are unable to order her deported?  Or so I thought.  Do Canadians have to be born to legally landed individuals?

Even if she is a Canadian citizen, if her parents are deported is she going to stay?

The thing about ideas, though, is that they lead to more ideas. Have you ever noticed that when you sit down to write something, half the ideas that end up in it are ones you thought of while writing?

I always thought there was some dispensation that allowed at least one parent to stay in the country with their Canadian child.  Of course, I suppose that would open up a rather large immigration loophole, for those wannabe Canadians who have the luxury of 9+ months of planning ahead.  So I'm not quite sure where I got that impression.
